World No Tobacco Day 2025: Exposing the Industry’s Tactics to Protect Our Youth
Today, May 31st, 2025, The Stroke Association Supportnetwork-Ghana (SASNET-GHANA) joins the global community , World Heart Federation-Geneva (WHF), including Vision For Accelerated Sustainable Development , Ghana (VAST-Ghana), Food and Drugs Authority – Ghana ,etc , commemorating World No Tobacco Day, a crucial reminder of the devastating impact of tobacco on public health. As we mark this significant day, we sound the alarm on the tobacco industry’s insidious tactics to lure the youth into its deadly trap.
The tobacco industry’s strategies are multifaceted and manipulative, designed to hook a new generation of users. From flavored products to sleek packaging, these tactics are carefully crafted to appeal to young people, undermining efforts to reduce tobacco consumption.
We call on global leaders to recognize the gravity of this situation and take decisive action. Governments, stakeholders, and policymakers must stand firm in their commitment to public health and expose the industry’s tactics for what they are – a threat to the well-being of our youth.
To effectively combat the tobacco epidemic, we must:
- Strengthen national policies and regulations to prevent the industry’s manipulation.
- Enhance enforcement mechanisms to curb illicit tobacco trade.
- Dedicate resources to educate the public about the dangers of tobacco.
- Protect our borders from tobacco inflow and illicit trade.
The time for action is now. We cannot afford to be swayed by the industry’s tactics. We must work together to create a tobacco-free future for generations to come.
#WeAreNotPowerless- against the tobacco industry’s tactics.
Let us #ExposetheIndustryTactics and demand a healthier, tobacco-free world.
Join us in this fight. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a healthier future for all.
