SUMMARY:World Heart Day 2020
DESCRIPTION:World Heart Day is celebrated every year on 29 September\n&nbsp
\;\n\n" Safe guiding your Heart  in this COVID 19 Era as a Ghanaian"\n\n\
n\n\nIn May 2012\, world leaders committed to reducing global mortality f
rom non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by 25% by 2025. Cardiovascular diseas
e (CVD) is accountable for nearly half of all NCD deaths making it the wor
ld’s number one killer. World Heart Day is\, therefore\, the perfect pla
tform for the CVD community to unite in the fight against CVD and reduce t
he global disease burden.\n\nCreated by the World Heart Federation\, Worl
d Heart Day informs people around the globe that CVD\, including heart dis
ease and stroke\, is the world’s leading cause of death claiming 17.9 mi
llion lives each year\, and highlights the actions that individuals can ta
ke to prevent and control CVD. It aims to drive action to educate people
that by controlling risk factors such as tobacco use\, unhealthy diet an
d physical inactivity\, at least 80% of premature deaths from heart diseas
e and stroke could be avoided.\n\nWorld Heart Day is a global campaign du
 ring which individuals\, families\, communities\, and governments around t
he world participate in activities to take charge of their heart health a
nd that of others. Through this campaign\, the World Heart Federation uni
tes people from all countries and backgrounds in the fight against the CVD
burden and inspires and drives international action to encourage heart-he
althy living across the world. The World Heart Federation (WHF) and Stroke
  Association Supportnetwork-Ghana  (SASNET-GHANA)believe in a world where
heart health for everyone is a fundamental human right and a crucial elem
ent of global health justice.\n\nLook out for more activities  and inform

SUMMARY:World Heart Day 2024 Joint event Scheduled to take place in Ghana
DESCRIPTION:\n♥️HEART YES!\nThis 2024 World Heart Day campaign is dedic
ated to motivating every country to develop or support national cardiovasc
ular health action plans.\n\nWe know that countries don’t prioritize hea
rt health. National policies for cardiovascular disease are lacking\, insu
fficient or simply don’t exist.\n\nAs part of plans to showcase the effo
rts of African continent members in ensuring equitable access to preventio
n and care\, the leadership of WHF has selected Ghana to host the 2024 Wor
ld Heart Day edition. We envisage that various festivities will be organiz
ed from 25th September to 29th September 2024.\n\nWatch this space for mor
e information soon!\n\n\nUSE HEART FOR ACTION\nFrom 2024-2026 we will camp
aign under the theme of Use Heart for Action supporting individuals to car
e for their heart and empowering them to urge leaders to take cardiovascul
ar health seriously by providing a global platform for action.\n\nThe acti
on is the deliberate and impactful execution of efforts. It highlights a s
hift from awareness to empowering with a clear purpose and goal. There is
also the two-way nature of action: efforts to influence policies and advoc
ate for behavior change and physical activity. It reflects the requirement
for sustained efforts and collaboration.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nOur global platfor
m for action aims to give hearts a voice.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nA GLOBAL CALL TO A
CTION\nHigh-level decision makers are needed to make a difference\, but ev
eryone has a role to be an influencer: the professional community\, patien
t and the public.\n\nWe will send a powerful message to leaders worldwide
by calling on everyone to sign the first global petition prioritizing hear
 t health.\n\nChampioning a resounding ♥️YES for robust health policies

or of long-term mortality after an index stroke in Ghana\, regardless of t
he underlying pathophysiologic mechanism (Sarfo\, et al\, 2022).\n\n&nbsp\
;\n\nStroke constitutes a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in
Ghana. Major efforts are needed in the prevention and treatment of stroke.
Population-based health education programs and appropriate public health
policy need to be developed (Agyeman et al\, 2022). Instituting acute stro
